When filling the page with content, it is useful to make a list of keywords in order to determine the main theme of the resource, which will attract potential consumers. The keywords meta tag is a special type of meta tag by which search engines determine the page’s theme. This tag is placed in the page header between the <head> and </head> tags.

How keywords affect promotion
It is believed that the keywords tag affects the promotion of the site, as search engines determine its content based on them. Tags can be optimized so that key content elements allow the site to be highlighted in the search results. In the world of modern search engines, user interaction is highly valued, and therefore any site should satisfy user requests as fully and concisely as possible.

How to fill in the meta tag
It doesn’t matter if you create meta keywords manually or using software. The main thing – the selected keys must be relevant to a particular page.

Decline your keywords. Grammatical transformations in the form of declensions and plurals are useful if you really need or want to use one keyword several times.
Do you need a keywords meta tag in 2019
Initially, the idea of ​​using meta tags was aimed at ensuring the ranking of relevant queries. The keywords tag appeared back in 1995, but many owners of web resources began actively spamming and filling out their tags with absolutely non-content-specific keys. After more than 20 years, major search engines say they won’t take keywords into account.

Representatives of Google directly stated that they do not use keys when ranking requests. In Yandex, keywords also changed their attitude towards the meta tag, noting that it can be taken into account to determine how much the web page matches search queries. However, the Yandex team does not give a direct indication of the need to fill out the keys.

The influence of keywords on search optimization has been decreasing every year and, it seems, is now completely gone. Despite this, using keywords is not forbidden. If it’s difficult for you to refuse to fill out the keys, carefully consider why you need them. The keywords tag will not affect SEO, but filling it out can help to understand the optimization deeper.
